The Role:
This role will oversee the governance of ESG initiative. The individual will collaborate closely with the Board of Directors ESG Committee, Executive Leadership, and various cross-functional teams. A central responsibility will be raising awareness of the company’s global sustainability impacts, risks, and opportunities, while fostering stronger coordination between global and regional teams. As the Director of ESG Strategy, this person will act as the company’s expert on ESG matters, offering guidance on goals, data management, strategy, tactics, program development, and reporting. Additionally, they will play a key role in ensuring compliance with upcoming regulations and should have extensive experience leading sustainability initiatives in global manufacturing or consumer products.
Key Responsibilities:
· Prepare regular strategy updates and educational materials for the ESG Committee.
· Lead the Executive Sustainability Council to enhance awareness, alignment, and progress toward long-term ESG goals.
· Monitor rising regulations, industry trends, best practices, and stakeholder needs to continuously refine the organisation's ESG approach.
· Collaborate with Enterprise Risk Management, Regulatory/Government Affairs, Legal, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Human Resources, and other key teams to develop, implement, and track the sustainability strategy.
· Create a comprehensive ESG data, reporting, and communications plan to share sustainability progress and accomplishments with both internal and external audiences.
· Supervise teams handling regulatory disclosures, sustainability reporting, and other ESG-related communications.
· Offer strategic direction on ESG priorities, objectives, metrics, technology solutions, and internal reporting systems.
· Oversee stakeholder engagement, materiality assessments, and risk management activities.
· Manage budgets, project teams, consultants, and annual work plans.
· Provide support for key ESG workstreams, including climate action, deforestation, packaging, responsible sourcing, DE&I, human rights, and others.
What You Bring:
· 6+ Years experience with a proven record leading ESG initiatives.
· Successful experience influencing executive leadership and managing cross-functional committees.
· Experience in ESG strategy development.
· In depth knowledge and experience in risk management and a wide variety of ESG topics.
· Proven ability to conduct comprehensive analysis and impact assessments using both quantitative and qualitative data.
· Understanding of global ESG compliance requirements.
· Experience solving complex problems and generating innovative ideas to enhance partnerships.
· Strong financial and business acumen.
· Ability to conduct thorough analysis utilising quantitative and qualitative data.
